Milford Sound, New Zealand - Sunday, February 2nd

Before I talk abut Australia, we wanted to post some pictures of our sail through Milford Sound, off the coast of New Zealand.  It took us a few hours to sail through it, since we took it very slowly.  Evidently it is a challenge to maneuver the ship through some of the areas that are quite narrow.  The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and the weather was perfect.  The Captain kept telling us that usually the weather is gloomy and the sea is rough, so we felt quite fortunate to have perfect weather conditions for our trip.

Milford Sound is an area of steep fjords and dramatic waterfalls. Some of it reminded me a lot of Yosemite.  I even spotted a mountain top which reminded me (loosely) of Half Dome!  The sound was a bit like a maze in that we would look ahead and see different turns and until we got there we weren't sure which direction we were going.  It was a fascinating area and we thought you would enjoy seeing some of Bob's pictures.  So for those of you that wanted fewer words and more pictures, THIS ONE'S FOR YOU!!!!!
