Belawan, Sumatra, Thailand - Friday, March 21

Yesterday we listened to our onboard destination consultant lecture on today's port.  Although he attempted to give some positive aspects of Belawan, he was having difficulty making it sound very interesting.  At one point he said 'this will not be your favorite port'.  After listening to the lecture Bob and I decided to cancel our tour and remain aboard the ship today.  When we arrived this morning we were really glad we made this decision.  There was nothing that looked even remotely interesting.  In fact, Bob did leave the ship briefly this morning (while I was sleeping late :) and just before he got off the ship the crew cautioned him to be careful because some of the people hanging around the pier were quite aggressive.  He walked up and down the dock then re-boarded the ship.  He said there was absolutely no reason to walk outside.  So, we enjoyed a relaxing day on the ship catching up on the blog and resting for our big adventure tomorrow when we arrive in Phuket, Thailand.
